KSI has disclosed that Dillon Danis will face significant financial repercussions if he resorts to MMA tactics during their upcoming boxing match.
The two rivals are scheduled to settle their differences in the boxing ring on March 29 in Manchester. This fight comes three years after Danis withdrew from their initially planned bout.
Danis’s boxing debut in October 2023 against Logan Paul ended prematurely when he was disqualified for using an MMA move.
The jiu-jitsu expert attempted a submission move in the sixth round, which triggered a ring-side brawl and led to his disqualification.
KSI, who previously lost to Tommy Fury on the same night as the Paul-Danis fight, stated that he has taken precautions to prevent a similar chaotic situation by including specific clauses in their contract.
He commented, “We’ve included clauses in the contract. So, I doubt he will attempt anything foolish. He is aware of the consequences.”
KSI taunted Danis, suggesting that Danis accepted the fight mainly to cover the legal expenses from a lawsuit filed by Nina Agdal, Paul’s fiancée, for online harassment.
Danis acknowledged the contract terms, telling SunSport, “They will deduct my payment if I choke him. We’ll see if I need the money that badly.”
KSI, who trains at the MMA gym London Shootfighters, anticipates Danis might try some unorthodox moves in the ring.
He explained his strategy: “I am simply more active. I’m not the type to just throw a jab and then allow my opponent to recover.”
“I intend to pressure him, aiming for a knockout and to end the fight decisively. I won’t give him any room to breathe.”
“I will be relentless, making things difficult for him to the point where he might become desperate and attempt a jiu-jitsu move.”
“Given that I train at an MMA gym, I’ll anticipate it and use his MMA attempts to my advantage to secure a knockout.”
KSI, aged 31, has not fought since his controversial defeat to Tommy Fury, 25, which marked his first loss in boxing.
He also had to withdraw from a scheduled comeback fight in August due to a hand injury, from which he has since recovered.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer faced challenges in finding an opponent for this fight, claiming that five potential fighters turned down the opportunity.
He even initially agreed to fight Wayne Bridge, 44, before the former Chelsea player backed out after KSI made remarks about Bridge’s past issues with John Terry.
KSI, who previously slapped Danis with a pancake at a press conference, has received criticism regarding the caliber of his opponents.
Despite his training and management team being involved in the decision-making, Danis, also 31, was brought in as a last-minute replacement.
KSI stated, “Ultimately, the choice of opponent rests with me. Everyone has their opinions.”
“However, I have the final say, and Dillon Danis was chosen because we explored numerous options and were nearing a point where the event might not happen.”
“We considered Dillon, and I’ve been wanting to defeat him for a while. We’ve had online exchanges, and I felt Logan Paul didn’t do enough in his fight against Danis.”
“Although Logan won convincingly, I don’t just want to win; I want to knock him out. I need to see him knocked out.”
