LONDON, England — Lauren Price promised speed, power, and a decisive victory against Natasha Jonas, and she delivered exactly that.

From the opening bell to the final round, she was in control, captivating the audience with her agile footwork, incredibly fast jab, and the ever-present threat of her striking ability.

This win elevates Price’s status, but the entire event at London’s Royal Albert Hall was a fantastic showcase for women’s boxing.

Returning to this iconic venue brought a sense of history, a stark contrast to the past when boxing events were filled with cigarette smoke, a far cry from the fresh atmosphere of Friday’s event.

It’s worth noting that professional women’s boxing was prohibited in Britain until 1998.

On Friday, the day before International Women’s Day, a completely female lineup took the spotlight, demonstrating the remarkable progress of the sport.

‘This is a very proud moment in my career, one I will cherish forever,’ Price stated at her post-fight press conference. ‘Boxing here, in a venue where legends like Muhammad Ali have fought, is incredibly special.’

‘It’s not just about my achievement, but about the entire undercard. It highlights that when you have talented women boxers, you can create an exceptional boxing event.’

Price shone as the main attraction, and now a major undisputed championship fight is anticipated. The boxer from Wales believes she can emulate Katie Taylor’s impact on boxing.

‘Katie Taylor has inspired Ireland, and I have Wales behind me. She’s an Olympic champion, as am I, and I truly believe I can sell out stadiums. That’s my ambition and what I’m striving for.’

Mikaela Mayer or Sandy Ryan are potential next opponents – they are scheduled for a rematch on March 29 for the WBO title. Either matchup would be compelling, both in and out of the ring.

The verbal exchanges between Price and Mayer have already begun, with Price mentioning Mayer declined a fight last year.

Ryan, on the other hand, would set up an exciting all-British title clash.

Promoter Ben Shalom confirmed he and Price will attend the Mayer versus Ryan fight, eager to build anticipation for an undisputed championship bout.

‘This is the kind of fight women’s boxing needs,’ Shalom said. ‘Big fights are essential to attract audiences and maintain interest, as we saw tonight. Lauren and I will be in Vegas in a few weeks for that fight.’

‘Mikaela has already expressed her desire to become undisputed champion if she wins. It’s the most logical step for boxing.’
