Ciryl Gane's First Words After Tom Aspinall Vacated the UFC Heavyweight Title Amidst Eye Setback

Ciryl Gane briefly commented on Tom Aspinall vacating the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Aspinall's status became uncertain after Eddie Hearn mentioned his fighter needed further eye examinations before returning to competition. UFC CEO Dana White later indicated to reporters that Aspinall likely wouldn't want to delay the heavyweight division further, which proved accurate.

In a social media post, Aspinall announced a recent "accident" caused another issue with his right eye, leading him to relinquish the heavyweight title. Gane won the interim heavyweight title in June by defeating former light heavyweight and middleweight champion Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250. While Pereira has expressed interest in a rematch, rising contender Josh Hokit has also put himself forward. Hokit's recent wins over Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes, combined with his notable persona, give him a strong claim for the next heavyweight title fight.

Meanwhile, Pereira maintains that Gane should have been penalized for illegal blows to the back of the head during their initial encounter. The UFC's plans for the heavyweight title picture remain unclear, and updates will be provided as they become available.
