Dana White Skeptical About Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Bout: "Two Fighters Must Desire to Compete"

UFC President Dana White is uncertain if the boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will ever take place. The bout, long considered the biggest potential fight in the UK, has been plagued by disagreements between the camps, preventing its realization. White, like many others, believes the fight should have occurred earlier in their careers.

Speaking at the UFC 330 post-fight press conference, White questioned the genuine willingness of both Fury and Joshua to face each other.

"This whole saga, we'll see how it unfolds," White remarked. "It comes down to whether they truly want to fight or not. I'm not sure."

Despite the significant financial potential of a Fury vs. Joshua encounter, White stressed that the fight cannot happen without the fighters' mutual commitment.

"For a fight to happen, both individuals must want it," White stated emphatically. "That's the bottom line. Regardless of contracts and other logistics, there's a vast sum of money at stake. The fundamental question is: do you want to fight or not? I don't have a strong opinion either way. If it were in the UK, I'd be happy, but it doesn't concern me. The crucial point is their desire to compete."

White concurs with the sentiment that the Fury vs. Joshua matchup is long overdue and hopes for circumstances that will finally allow it to be booked.

"This fight should have happened a decade ago. Whether it will happen now remains to be seen."

Both Fury and Joshua have recently participated in preliminary fights. Fury secured a seventh-round technical knockout against Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand. Joshua faced more challenges in his bout against Kristian Prenga, enduring two knockdowns before achieving a second-round knockout victory.
