Josh Hokit slams Alex Pereira's call for Ciryl Gane rematch

Josh Hokit has strongly criticized Alex Pereira's recent assertion that an immediate rematch with Ciryl Gane is the most logical next step for his heavyweight career.

Pereira, who recently debuted in the heavyweight division at UFC Freedom 250 in June, suffered a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane. Despite the defeat, Pereira quickly called for a second bout with Gane, citing controversial strikes in the fight's closing moments.

When questioned about his future plans, Pereira reiterated that the Gane rematch "makes the most sense" for his return to the Octagon. He also indicated that he doesn't intend to wait for the potential Tom Aspinall vs. Gane fight to materialize before plotting his comeback.

This stance has ignited the existing rivalry between Hokit and Pereira, with Hokit expressing his strong disapproval of Pereira's callout.

"As a fan, that fight makes no sense," Hokit stated, dismissing Pereira's callout. "I watched you get dominated. Why not consider a more suitable opponent like Sergei, who is primarily a striker and considerably less athletic than Ciryl? Why don't you secure at least one victory in this division before being handed another title shot?"

"When the UFC starts allowing individuals who try to feed carrots to a school bus, and Brigitte Macron's stunt double, to dictate matchmaking, this company is in trouble," Hokit continued his heated remarks. "The USA is the financial engine here. The fans deserve an American champion and a fight that isn't a repeat of what we just saw in June!"

As of now, Alex Pereira has not responded to Josh Hokit's comments. Meanwhile, it is rumored that Aspinall and Gane are being considered to headline the UFC's return to Madison Square Garden in November, contingent upon Aspinall's medical clearance.
