Rohit Sharma has announced that he will not be retiring from ODI cricket after India’s victory in the Champions Trophy.

Speaking at a press conference after India defeated New Zealand in the final, the Indian captain stated, “I am not going to retire from this format, just to make sure that no rumours are spread going forward.”

When questioned about his future plans in ODI cricket after securing back-to-back ICC titles, Rohit mentioned that there is “no future plan” and that he will continue with the current approach. He had previously retired from T20Is after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Rohit highlighted the team’s achievement in winning two ICC trophies undefeated as a significant accomplishment. He praised KL Rahul for his composed innings under pressure during the final chase, where Rahul remained unbeaten on 34 runs.

Regarding his own aggressive starts in matches, Rohit explained that batting depth provides him with the freedom to attack early in the innings. He also commended the spinners for their consistent performances throughout the tournament, especially Varun Chakravarthy, who became the second-highest wicket-taker.

Rohit acknowledged Varun’s unique bowling style and his effectiveness on supportive pitches, noting his impactful performance against New Zealand where he took five wickets.
