Brydon Carse will miss IPL 2025 due to a left toe injury, which also forced him to leave the Champions Trophy early. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have brought in Wiaan Mulder as his replacement.
Carse, originally bought by SRH for INR 1 crore, hurt his toe during England’s tour of India before the Champions Trophy. The injury worsened during England’s Champions Trophy match against Australia in Lahore, where he could only bowl a limited number of overs. Consequently, he was withdrawn from the rest of the Champions Trophy.
Mulder was a successful bowler for South Africa in the Champions Trophy, taking six wickets and being among their top wicket-takers as they reached the semi-finals.
Mulder brings experience from 128 T20 matches, with over 2000 runs and 67 wickets. This will be his first time playing in the IPL, though he has participated in other T20 leagues like SA20, Mzansi Super League (now defunct), and England’s Vitality Blast.
IPL 2025 is scheduled to start on March 22. SRH, who were runners-up in 2024, will begin their season at home against Rajasthan Royals on March 23.
